Plain answers to hard questions.
Immigration is intimidating because it is complex. Below are the questions we hear most often, plus links to authoritative government resources. Nothing on this page is legal advice — for that, schedule a consultation.
Frequently Asked
How long does the green card process take?+
It depends entirely on the category. Marriage-based adjustment of status in Arizona is typically running 10–16 months. Family preference categories from countries like Mexico, the Philippines, India, and China can take years due to per-country limits. We give you a realistic timeline at the consultation.
I have an old arrest. Can I still apply for citizenship?+
In most cases, yes — but only with a strategy. USCIS asks about every arrest, charge, and conviction, even those that were dismissed or expunged. We obtain the certified records, evaluate good moral character, and prepare full, honest disclosures.
My family member is in immigration detention. What do I do?+
Call us immediately. Time matters. We can request a bond hearing, evaluate eligibility for relief, and appear before the Phoenix Immigration Court. We accept urgent detention matters on short notice.
Do you handle marriage-based green cards if I came in without inspection?+
Yes. Depending on your circumstances, the path may be a provisional unlawful presence waiver (I-601A) followed by consular processing, or — if you have an immediate relative U.S. citizen and qualify under section 245(i) — direct adjustment in the U.S. We evaluate every option.
What languages does the firm speak?+
Joyce is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese (中文). The firm regularly serves Spanish-, Vietnamese-, and Korean-speaking clients with professional interpreters at no additional cost during consultations.
How much do you charge?+
We use flat fees for most immigration matters so you know the full cost up front — no hourly billing surprises. Government filing fees are separate. Payment plans are available for most cases. Initial consultations are free.
Can you help my employer file an H-1B for me?+
Yes — we represent both employers and beneficiaries on H-1B, L-1, O-1, and PERM-based green card cases. We also advise startups on the right visa category for early hires and founders.
I was denied. Can I appeal?+
Often, yes — but the deadlines are strict and the strategy depends on which agency denied you. Bring the denial notice and any underlying filings to the consultation and we'll tell you honestly whether appeal, motion to reopen, or refiling is the strongest path.
